The answer is Yes, it is possible. I've been using the Nexstar SLT mount with a Celestron C6 OTA. Vibration during focussing could be an issue especially at very high magnification. Sometimes, it is kind of frustrating. Even a light touch on the focuser can cause vibration. However, I have since upgraded to motor focuser. It has been a pleasant viewing even at high magnification ever since.

Hi. In one of the linked threads, somebody states "Ok in my attempts to mount a C6 onto the SLT mount, I found the plastic cover around the dovetail clamp is getting int he way. If I remove it, the OTA will fit onto the mount.
ReplyDeletewith the plastic cover on, I cannot slide the OTAs dovetail into the dovetail clamp. So I can just leave the plastic cover off, however this exposed the alt gears to the elements. Or I was thinking I could get a short 8" dovetail and mount that to the exsiting OTA dovetail. This would give more clearance... "
Is that accurate? The C6 OTA does not directly clamp on the SLT arm as is? Thanks!
Hello there. Yes, the C6 SCT OTA will not directly clamp on the SLT arm as is. You will have to either remove the plastic cover around the dovetail clamp or cut the top portion of the cover to give some clearance.
