C6 (even C8) SCT on Nexstar SLT mount
The answer is Yes, it is possible. I've been using the Nexstar SLT mount with a Celestron C6 OTA. Vibration during focussing could be an issue especially at very high magnification. Sometimes, it is kind of frustrating. Even a light touch on the focuser can cause vibration. However, I have since upgraded to motor focuser. It has been a pleasant viewing even at high magnification ever since.

Nexstar SLT mount max. payload
The payload weight is defined by Celestron’s engineering/product development department as the load that is carried by the mount’s dovetail clamp.
These are the payload weights of (mostly) current mounts:
Mount | Payload (pounds) |
CGE Pro | 90 |
CGE | 65 |
CGEM DX | 50 |
CGEM | 40 |
Advanced GT (CG-5) | 35 |
NexStar 6/8SE | 12 |
NexStar 4/5SE | 10 |
AllView | 9 |
SkyProdigy | 8 |
NexStar SLT | 8 |
LCM | 5 |
Omni (CG-4) | 20 |

Currently, I'm using Celestron C6 on Nexstar SLT mount. While the mount is able to function properly, vibration is a problem.
Polaris: North Star
Northern Hemisphere
Point the telescope in the general direction of Polaris (the North Star). Remember that Polaris is straight north and is the same number of degrees above the horizon as your latitude on Earth. In other words, if you live at 45 degrees north latitude, you would point the scope north and up at a 45 degree angle.
